Lane Support System

The Lane Support Systems (LSS) uses cameras (the same or similar to those of the AEB) to “read” road lane markings and warn the driver when approaching them on a potentially dangerous trajectory. Some systems even “steer” the car away from the approached lines to safely maintain the correct course within the lines. These systems work for intermittent lines, full separation lines as well as for road edges lines. All the scenarios are tested by Latin NCAP.

Roadside Detection Systems (RED) have a more complex mode of operation and detection than LSS, since without the need to detect lines, it detects when the vehicle could go off the road, identifying differences in surfaces resulting in either an alert to the driver or in a vehicle action to automatically guide the steering wheel to return to the road.
