Intelligent seat belt reminder systems
Advanced systems that, through cameras, sensors, or a combination of both, prevent seatbelt misuse and avoid manipulation of seatbelt reminder systems. Latin NCAP does not define how these systems should operate, but rather their objective — preventing seatbelt misuse — and it is the vehicle manufacturer’s responsibility to demonstrate the effectiveness of the system. Examples of misuse that this technology aims to prevent include wearing the seatbelt behind the back, under the arm, behind the seat, or the use of additional buckle clips inserted into the vehicle’s seatbelt latch.

Driver Monitoring Systems
These are technologies integrated into vehicles to analyze the driver’s behavior and level of alertness in real time through the use of sensors and cameras both inside and outside the vehicle.

Facilitating the installation of breathalyzers
It is the vehicle’s capability to connect, through a standardized interface, an alcohol detection and immobilization device. This does not mean that vehicles must be equipped with this device, but rather with the interface that allows users such as fleets or governments to incorporate it in a standardized way and without modifications. This requirement has been mandatory in vehicles in the European Union since 2022.
