Latin NCAP announces Ricardo Morales Rubio as new President of the Board of Directors

The members of Latin NCAP have elected Ricardo Morales Rubio as new President of the Board of Directors for the next three years. Ricardo Morales Rubio succeeds María Fernanda Rodríguez who served as President of the first Latin NCAP’s Board of Directors since 2014 and who will continue to represent the Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez and the Road Safety NGOs at the Board.

Ricardo Morales is the President of the Colombia Automobile Club and has been a Latin NCAP member since 2014. His life has been permanently related to the automobile sector and has been promoter and director of Classic and Vintage Clubs. His management as President of the Colombia Automobile Club has been focused in strengthening the relationship between the government and the industry, through public policies actions with the Vice Presidency of the Republic of Colombia, Ministry of Transport and the recently created the Road Safety National Agency.

Ricardo Morales Rubio said: ‘I am honoured to be appointed President of Latin NCAP’s Board of Directors. Vehicle safety has been underestimated by governments and users; this is why it is imperative to work together with the consumers associations, road safety organisations, insurance companies and Automobile Clubs, to achieve safer cars. Latin America and the Caribbean can´t continue having increasing road safety death and injuries rates under the complacent look of the industry”.

Latin NCAP’s Secretary General Alejandro Furas said said: “I am confident that Ricardo Morales Rubio experience in the automobile world will allow Latin NCAP to move towards safer cars and to the democratisation of vehicle safety throughout the region”.
